A Worksplate HAWTHORN LESLIE, 2812, REBUILT 1957, from a standard gauge 0-6-0T built by Kitson, Works No 4294, in 1905 and new to Lambton, Hetton & Joicey Collieries Ltd at Beamish Pit, their No 5, and named MAJOR. Rebuilt by Hawthorn Leslie in 1931 under repair job number 2812, it became National Coal Board property in January 1947 at Beamish Engine Works. Rebuilt a second time by Robert Stephenson & Hawthorns in 1957 when this plate was attached. It moved to the NCB's Handen Hold Colliery at West Pelton in July 1963 and to Derwenthaugh Loco Shed in April 1966 and was scrapped in May 1970. Cast brass, 12"x7¾", in ex loco condition. £150-300 |
