A nameplate, SWIFTSURE, from a LMS Class 6P Jubilee 4-6-0 No 5716, BR 45716, built at Crewe in 1936 and named on 4 July 1936 after a Royal Navy vessel built the same year. Allocated new on loan to Crewe North on 4 July 1936, it spent most of its working life at Carlisle Kingmoor before moving towards the end to Agecroft, Newton Heath and Holbeck from where it was withdrawn on 7 September 1964 and soon cut up at Crewe Works by 25 September. Cast brass, 28¾" long, the front repainted. £7000-9000 |
