A smokebox numberplate, 62022, from a Peppercorn K1 Class 2-6-0 built by the North British Locomotive Co, Works No 26626, and allocated new to Blaydon on 4 August 1949. Its later sheds were Consett and North Blyth from where it was withdrawn on 4 September 1966 and sold for scrap to Hughes Bolckow at Blyth. Notably the loco hauled the last train on the Border Counties Line. Repainted, a small section milled from the top rim to clear the smokebox door handle. (See also previous Lot) £350-500 |
