A worksplate, LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY, 2858, DARLINGTON WORKS, 1936, from a LNER B17 Class 4-6-0 No 2858 built at Darlington in May 1936, renumbered 1658 in 1946, becoming BR 61658. Originally named NEWCASTLE UNITED when built, it was renamed THE ESSEX REGIMENT just one month later. At Stratford by January 1948, it moved in 1951 to March and in 1955 to Colchester where it spent most of its remaining days before moving back to Stratford from where it was withdrawn on 3 December 1959 and cut up at Doncaster Works. Cast brass, 9"x5", in ex loco condition. £600-900 |
