A cabside numberplate, GWR 42, from a Rhymney Railway R Class 0-6-2T No 46 built by Beyer Peacock, Works No 6102, in December 1921. When the Railway and its locomotives was absorbed by the GWR in January 1922, it became GWR 42. Allocated to Cardiff Cathays by January 1948, it moved at the end of 1953 to Cardiff East Dock from where it was withdrawn on 16 September 1957 and cut up at Swindon Works in the week ending 1 February 1958. Cast iron, the front repainted, a hairline crack in the rim upper right, only visible on the back. £700-1000 |
