A smokebox numberplate, 48457, together with its worksplate, LMS BUILT DERBY, and its Stanier hooter whistle, from a LMS Class 8F 2-8-0 No 8457 built at Swindon to Railway Executive Committee order and allocated new to Oxley on 23 October 1944. In June 1947 it moved to Crewe South but spent most of its BR days from 1949 at Edge Hill with a final year or so at Speke Junction from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 1 October 1966 and cut up by Drapers at Hull in the week ending 18 February 1967. The numberplate and worksplate repainted. (3) £400-600 |
