A nameplate, SOLOMON ISLANDS, from a LMS Class 6P Jubilee 4-6-0 No 5603 built by the North British Locomotive Co, Works No 24161, in 1935 and named on 24 February 1936 after the British protectorate in the South Pacific. Allocated new to Camden on 26 January 1935, its later sheds included Longsight, Crewe North, Willesden, Rugby and Nuneaton from where it was withdrawn on 7 December 1962 and cut up at Crewe Works by 18 February 1963. Cast brass, 49" long, the front repainted. £8000-10000 |
