A worksplate, A. R. ADAMS & SON, ENGINEERS & BOILERMAKERS, NEWPORT, MON, a rebuild plate from a standard gauge 0-4-0ST named ENTERPRISE built by R. & W. Hawthorn, Works No 2009, in 1884 and new to the Tredegar Estate Co. at Newport. It was acquired in about 1937 by Adams who rebuilt it and sold it to R. Y. Pickering & Co Ltd, rolling stock manufacturers at Wishaw, Lanarkshire where it became their No 3. Following withdrawal it was stored out of use and was later acquired by the Tanfield Railway where it resides today and has received some cosmetic restoration. Cast brass 9¼"x5¾", the front repainted. £100-200 |
