| Lot 361 | A nameplate, GRANTLEY HALL, from the GWR 4900 Hall Class 4-6-0 No 6924 built at Swindon in August 1941 and named in May 1947 after the country house six miles west of Ripon in North Yorkshire. At Stafford Road by January 1948, its later sheds were Leamington Spa, Gloucester, Oxley, Reading and Oxford from where it was withdrawn in the fortnight ending 23 October 1965 and sold for scrap to Cashmores at Newport, entering their yard on 21 February 1966. Unrestored condition. £5000-6000 |
