A mid-19th century NER 14" roundhead clock in an oak case in ex-station condition, used in the Staff Section General Office of the Newcastle District Superintendent. Overall height 17¾". The box with single side door bearing typical NER ink repair notes on the inside and bottom door lacking lock. The ogee moulded two piece dial surround with glued splits and housing an old spun bezel with plastered sight ring. The dial written LNER 5285 over the shadow of N.E.R N/692. The wire fusee movement between shaped plates with feet and knopped pillars. Ex-LNER records confirm that N/692 was its NER number. Complete with pendulum with replaced rod, winder, copies of its entry in records and of the receipt for its purchase from Collector's Corner, Euston in 1987. £400-600 |
