A smokebox numberplate, 40002, from a LMS Class 3 2-6-2T No 15501 built at Derby in 1930, renumbered No 2 in 1934, becoming BR 40002, the second lowest number in the BR(M) series. At Birkenhead North by January 1935, its later sheds included Aston, Warwick, Willesden and Chester Northgate with a final two years or so officially allocated to Wolverton Works from where it was withdrawn on 2 November 1959 and cut up at Crewe Works by 15 June 1961. The front repainted. £300-500 |
