A nameplate, NORTHERN RHODESIA, from a LMS Class 6P Jubilee 4-6-0 No 5621, BR 45621, built at Crewe in 1934 and named on 30 July 1936 after the crown colony in Central Africa, now called Zambia following independence in 1964. Allocated new to Crewe North on 11 October 1964, its later sheds included Holbeck, then Millhouses for twelve years before moving north of the Border in 1952 where it spent most of its time at Corkerhill with brief spells at Perth and Polmadie. Withdrawn from Corkerhill on 29 December 1962, it was stored at Lugton and sold for scrap to Campbells at Shieldhall. Cast brass, 49" long, the front repainted. £9000-12000 |
