A smokebox numberplate, 90482, from a War Department Austerity 2-8-0 built to Ministry of Supply order by Vulcan Foundry, Works No 5091, in July 1944, WD No 78690. Loaned to the LNER in January 1946 and allocated to Newport NER, it was purchased by them in April 1947, becoming LNER O7 Class No 3161 and allocated to Heaton. It became BR 63161 and 90482 in November 1950. Its BR sheds were Tyne Dock, Hull Dairycoates, Hull Springhead, Wakefield and West Hartlepool from where it was withdrawn on 12 July 1967 and sold for scrap to Arnott Young at Fighting Cocks. Repainted. £300-500 |
