A worksplate, LMS REBUILT 1913 DERBY, from a Midland Railway 483 Class 4-4-0 No 491 classed as the renewal of a Johnson 4-4-0 built in 1898 with the same number and using new frames and cylinders. Still numbered 491 in LMS days, it became BR 40491. At Hasland by January 1935, it remained there until moving to Bradford Manningham in 1956 and later the same year to Holbeck from where it was withdrawn on 4 October 1960 and despatched to Doncaster Works for scrap just three days later. Cast brass, 10½"x6", the front cleaned but unpainted. £150-300 |
