A nameplate, DUCHESS OF NORFOLK, from the LMS Class 8P Princess Coronation 4-6-2 No 6226 built at Crewe in 1938 with streamlined casing, becoming BR 46226. Allocated new to Camden on 23 May 1938, it spent most of its career either there or at Carlisle Upperby or Crewe North before finishing its days at Carlisle Kingmoor from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 12 September 1964 and despatched for scrap to West of Scotland Shipbreaking at Troon on 27 January 1965. Cast brass, 76" long, the front background repainted; the remains of the original chrome plating still evident around the outer edges as well as much thick old maroon paint. £20000-30000 |
