A nameplate, PEREGRINE, from a Peppercorn A1 Class 4-6-2 No 60146 built at Doncaster, Works No 2065, in April 1949 and named in December 1950, the name, but not the same nameplates, having previously been borne by the LNER A4 Class No 60034 until this was renamed Lord Faringdon in March 1948. Allocated new to Doncaster on 11 April 1949, it spent almost all its working life at York from where it was withdrawn on 4 October 1965 and sold for scrap to T.W. Ward at Killamarsh. Cast brass, 57½" long, the front repainted. £10000-15000 |
