A German cabside numberplate, 38.2265 from a Prussian standard gauge P8 Class mixed traffic 4-6-0 built by Henschel, Works No 15689, in 1918, and delivered new to the Koblenz depot with Prussian number Cöln 2478. In 1925 it received the existing number 38.2265 - the number plate is actually from the second set of cabside plates as produced for Deutsche Bundesbahn. In August 1930 the engine moved to Münster then to Delmenhorst. In the early 1950s it was shedded at Wuppertal and worked from Wuppertal to Langerfeld. From June 1958 it was at Bestwig and was withdrawn on 12 November 1962. Steel with numbers riveted to backplate, 28"x8", in ex loco condition. £150-300 |
