A nameplate, LOCH EIL, from the Great Northern Railway Class H3, LNER K2 Class, 2-6-0, built by Kitson & Co, Works No 5342, in July 1921, GNR No 1692, LNER 4692, renumbered 1782 in 1946, becoming BR 61782, and named in February 1933 after the Loch alongside the Mallaig line west of Fort William. It was at Fort William by January 1948 and later Eastfield, Kittybrewster and Keith from where it was withdrawn on 13 June 1960 and entered Inverurie Works for cutting up on 19 July 1960. The plate is 56" long and the front has been repainted. £7000-10000 |
