A late 19th century 10" GNR mahogany-cased roundhead clock probably originally at Leicester and later Northampton. Overall height: 13 ½ inches. The box with two tip-up side doors with small bone knobs and bottom door secured by a key-operated lock; a standard oval brass number plate marked B.R. (M) 18026 on the right side and remains of an old label on the back of the box. Dial surround of standard sectional construction and containing a replaced clip-in brass bezel. Fusee movement held between plates with feet and shaped shoulders joined by knopped pillars with gut drive to the fusee. Dial re-written W. Potts & Sons G.N.R. Leeds 390. Complete with pendulum, winder, door key and paperwork detailing work done for the vendor by Smiths of Derby. More notes on line. £400-600 |
