A worksplate, NORTH BRITISH LOCOMOTIVE Co, QUEENS PARK WORKS, 22216, 1919, from a Robinson Great Central type 2-8-0 built to Ministry of Munitions order for the Railway Operating Division of the Royal Engineers, ROD No 2126. Loaned new to the Caledonian Railway in October 1919, returned to the ROD in August 1921 and stored at Gretna until February 1927 when it was acquired by the LNER, their O4 Class No 6633. Renumbered 3884 in 1946, it became BR 63884. Allocated to Doncaster by January 1948 and later Langwith Junction, Staveley GC, Mexborough and Frodingham from where it was withdrawn on 9 June 1964 and sold for scrap to T.W. Ward at Beighton. Cast brass, 13"x5¼", the front lightly cleaned. £200-350 |
