A late 19th century 8" L&SWR mahogany roundhead in a mahogany case supplied of standard Walkers style used in Aldershot West Signal Box. Overall height: 10½". Dovetailed box with original side and bottom doors the latter with lock, the rear stamped 3165 SW a standard SR marking. One piece dial surround containing a replaced cast brass bezel with integral sight ring. Dial repainted and written L & S.W.R. JNo Walker 1 South Molton St. London W, the details essentially correct for SR days; the style not. The number 3165 marked twice on the rear with other notes. Brass hands original, now not painted. Wire fusee movement typical of Walker for the period. Complete with pendulum, (scratched 1307 thus while correct style, possibly replaced) winding key, door key and copy of entry in SR records. £600-800 |
